Reverend Horton Heat are almost as synonymous with Vegas as Elvis or, uh, Donnie and Marie. The Dallas rockabilly band had already racked up one 2014 Vegas show before this PRB show and already have one scheduled after (July 10th at the Fremont Country Club with Metelachi and Franks and Deans). So it’s kind of surprising that this club show marked their first appearance at Punk Rock Bowling. If I had to describe their set in one word, it would be “fun.” They’re a party band – as are openers and friends of PIV Old Man Markley – and with everyone fully inebriated from a day of drinking, people were ready to cut loose and dance to classics. Hopefully next year we’ll see the band tear it up on the mainstage (possibly playing under a headlining set from brothers in sepia-tinged arms Social Distortion?).
