Our Stripped Down Session series continued on as usual throughout 2015, but with one big surprise. After crunching the numbers, I realized that we doubled the amount of sessions we filmed this year compared to last, making this our most prolific year yet!
Of course, I have to thank Chris Duggan for editing all the audio, Ashleigh Thompson for editing all the text that accompanies the videos, Aaron Mattern and Hunter Wallace for their help in filming, all the bands, managers and publicists who helped coordinate these videos and anyone who opened up their place for us to film.
And before we wrap things, let’s look at some 2015 Stripped Down Session trivia:
- Mercy Music became the first band to almost have their session temporarily broken up by a Priest, who was okay with us filming in front of his church but not okay with us using his ashtrays to sit on.
- We filmed four sessions during Punk Rock Bowling, a weekend where time is usually against us. During that time, Spike Slawson regaled us with stories of the costumed characters who roam San Francisco and Frank Turner and Red City Radio almost got us in trouble with our hotel neighbors due to their vocal prowess.
- We got new title cards and end cards, designed by our friend Tyler Gibson/Doom Toof.
- A practically Mothra-sized cicada attacked us during the toyGuitar videos, while a local rapper interrupted Spanish Love Songs – twice.
- A number of bands premiered brand new songs during their sessions, including Bee Master, Mercy Music, Rayner, Bad Cop/ Bad Cop and John Nolan.
- And we continued adding to bands from other countries we’ve filmed, with Mexico (DFMK), Israel (Yotam) and Sweden (Millencolin).
Thank you everyone for another great year! We’ll be back next week for another season of the Stripped Down Sessions, starting with The Heiz.
