Pop punk after 10 pm. It’s not what I’ve come to expect from the genre, but the show was at a pizza place, so all is good.

The night was headlined by Stickup Kid, a band who used to play Vegas with enough frequency that one could be forgiven for thinking they’re local, but who have slowed down a bit over the years. The San Jose band hasn’t lost a step, sounding as tight as ever playing a set with new songs and old favorites.

Touring with Stickup Kid was Crooked Teeth, an LA-based emo/pop punk band featuring Second to Last frontman Tyson Evans. The band’s sound can basically be described as “The Pop Disaster Tour,” which for those that don’t remember was a tour in the early 2000s that brought together Green Day, Blink 182, Jimmy Eat World and Saves the Day.

Locals The Holy Bright, the new project from Last Call members Austin Jeffers, Adam Blasco and Kyle Peterson, along with Narrowed’s Sam Blasco, kicked off the show with their debut appearance as a live band. The new project retains a lot of the heart that made Last Call so endearing and adds in heaps of modern emo influence, sort of where I expected Transit to take their sound of Listen and Forgive.
