Punks in Vegas goes international today as we bring you two brand new songs from Leamington Spa, England's SHARKS. We met up with the band's singer/guitarist James Mattock before the January 27th show at the Joint with Social Distortion and Frank Turner and he was gracious enough to play us two songs from SHARKS' upcoming release No Gods. The full Warped Tour lineup was announced last Saturday, and we at Punks in Vegas did our own top 5 for bands that are playing this year’s festival. Coming in at number four was Leamington Spa, England’s SHARKS, whose album The Joys of Living (2008-2010) will be released on Velvet Scene/Rise Records April 5th. The band, whose sound is influenced by The Clash and The Replacements and has had gigs opening for Social Distortion, Chuck Ragan, and Gaslight Anthem, are currently streaming the album in its entirety over at Punknews.org. The headliners were announced this morning for this year’s Warped Tour, the first to play in Vegas in 7 years. So now the real discussion on whether or not to attend the festival can begin. We knew it would be hot. We knew it would be crowded. But are the bands worth it? The Teggart Main Stage bands are: A Day to Remember 3Oh3! Against Me! Asking Alexandria Attack Attack! August Burns Red Gym Class Heroes Showing us that having an exclamation point in your band’s name apparently gives you a good shot at getting headliner status (note: Gym Class Heroes and Asking Alexandria are not on the Vegas date). Against Me!, arguably the best band on that list, will be on the Vegas date and are always fun to watch.
