Local emotional hardcore band Alaska promised that if they won the $5000 “Show Me What You Got Battle of The Bands” competition that they’d buy a van and live their dream of touring. Well, they won (congrats!) and the tour is real and also quite long (that’s what she said), starting on September 25th here in Vegas and running all the way until Turkey Day.
Alaska guitarist/PIV writer/delicious sandwich maker Joel Kirschenbaum had this to say:
“Winning the 5k was mad fulfilling and reaffirming to all of us that we haven’t been wasting our time on stupid shit. We plan on using the money to buy the name and LLC “Caravels.” We will from now on go by Caravels and play their songs. We also get their van with the Alaska/Caravels merger. If that doesn’t pan out we’ll have to buy a van from some other bros.”
