On Saturday, Nov. 9, I checked out Southern California's Assuming We Survive at Artifice downtown. I'm always surprised to find awesome venues that I've never heard of, but Danielle O'Hara (Nevermore Productions) did mention that punk shows are infrequent there, so that’s probably why it hasn’t been on my radar. Victorville, CA punks Face to Face dropped by the House of Blues July 5 for the final date of their most recent tour. This was actually my first full Face to Face show (last year I caught singer Trever Keith's solo tour), and the band far exceeded my expectations. Their hour and a half set blasted through a huge portion of their back catalog with fan favorites "A-OK" and "Disconnected" sounding especially great at the increased tempo. ...

On June 1st, I checked out the Vegas stop of the Summer Sickness tour with Authority Zero, Ballyhoo!, and Versus the World. I’d never been to Time Out Sports Bar before, and I was surprised to find a really cool space with a great sunken stage area.
