We’re sad to report that indie/alt rock band Moonboots has decided to part ways after just 2 years (plus three more as a Pixies cover band).
A message posted earlier this week on their Facebook page reads:
Friends, family and fans: Moonboots has decided to consciously uncouple. Thank you all for your support over the years. See you in the mosh pit.
Moonboots drummer Ryan Brunty further elaborated on the split via his own Facebook page:
Well the news is out, MOONBOOTS is no mås.
We are overwhelmed with the support and nice words from the scene sharing it across Facebook-land. Thanks to everyone that came out to a show, bought a shirt/cd or supported us in any capacity.
We started as a PIXIES cover band in 2011 playing in Clyde’s bedroom with the only real goal being to play a 30 minute set of songs from Doolittle and Surfer Rosa at GVR. After a few years, we started writing originals that we thought were pretty darn fun and so we played a show at The Downtown Drink n Draw at Backstage Bar & Billiards dressed as bananas and in weird costumes. It was a shit show, but it was fun and that’s all we really wanted to be. We never thought that a few years later we would be playing Neon Reverb with La Sera or three nights at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas to mosh pits and chants of “F*** YEAH MOONBOOTS” often started by Graham.
Anyhoo, just wanted everyone to know how much fun this band has been and it will be missed. I don’t know what the rest of the guys are doing, but I’m personally taking a little vacation from music for a bit to focus on other things. Huge thanks to the guys in We Are Pancakes. for playing our last show with us at Artifice, it was fun times. Thanks to Mike Henry for always looking out for us, Ryan Pardey for all the fun times at The Bunkhouse Saloon, Leslie for writing about us at our first show at Bunkhouse, O WILDLY & The American Weather for being great musical comrades and a special NO thanks to Dennis Rodman for being a butthead at that one show.
Biggest thank you however to Pj, John, Wade Andrew and Clyde. It’s been fun, dudes.
We wish the guys the best of luck in future projects!
