We’re sad to report that local screamo band Caravels has announced that they are going on hiatus for the foreseeable future.
A message posted on their Facebook page today reads:
Hey everyone. On January 9th, Caravels will be playing at the Bunkhouse with friends Same Sex Mary and Alaska. We’ll be heading out to Europe for a tour on January 13th. Because of personal circumstances in our lives, after we come back from Europe, Caravels will go on hiatus. This will be our last Las Vegas show in the foreseeable future. We’ve been at this for close to nine years now and it has been a pleasure to participate in the local music scene and call Vegas our home. Come out to the show if you’d like to help send us off on our final tour and celebrate the end of what has been an incredible experience. Thank you.
Details for the band’s final Vegas show can be found on Facebook.
Caravels has accomplished a lot during their 9 year run, including touring with the likes of Touche Amore and mewithoutYou, hosting house shows at the Caq Shack for artists like Into It. Over It. and Koji and releasing the Lacuna LP on Topshelf Records to much acclaim. Caravels is a band that holds particular significance to me as they were the very first band I photographed and filmed under the “Punks in Vegas” banner in 2011.
We wish the band members the best of luck with future projects and send out our thanks for the years of great music.
