Dropkick Murphys to play ‘Do or Die’ in its entirety at Punk Rock Bowling 2015

Late last year, Rancid announced that they would be using their headlining slot at this year’s Punk Rock Bowling festival to play their album …And Out Come the Wolves in its entirety. Today, fellow headliners Dropkick Murphys, inspired by Rancid’s gesture, announced that they too would be playing a full album during their PRB set – their 1998 debut Do or Die.

According to a post on Dropkick Murphy’s facebook:

With our good friends Rancid going old school for the PRB and playing the Out Come The Wolves album we thought it would be fun to keep that idea rolling and go back to our early days of Hellcat Records and play our debut album DO OR DIE front to back. This is something we’ve only done a few times in our career and never done west or the Mississippi. Can’t wait for a fun weekend with lots of great bands and old friends at Punk Rock Bowling and Music Festival!!!

Do or Die not only kicked off Dropkick Murphys’ career but instantly established the band’s connection to Rancid, as the album was released on Tim Armstrong’s Hellcat Records and produced by Lars Frederiksen.

The album was also the band’s only to feature vocalist Mike McColgan, who left the band shortly after the album’s release and was replaced by Al Barr. There hasn’t been word on if McColgan will be make any kind of appearance during Dropkick’s set, though his current band Street Dogs are PRB regulars and have also performed tracks from Do or Die on the festival mainstage.

Tickets for Punk Rock Bowling, which will once again happen Memorial Day Weekend, May 22-25, in Downtown Las Vegas, are on sale now via the official Punk Rock Bowling website.
