Without ever having played a show, The All Brights have become sellouts. That’s right, tickets to the band’s debut gig at the Bunkhouse Saloon with Me First and Manic Hispanic for Punk Rock Bowling, are completely gone!
But who the heck are they?
The band is billed as featuring members of PIV favorites The Loved Ones and Good Riddance, but details beyond that were scarce. So we reached out to the band and asked them five questions and what we got, well, I think we actually know less about them than before.
According to the Punk Rock Bowling flyer for the show you’re playing, The All Brights features members of The Loved Ones and Good Riddance. Beyond that it’s easier to find the true identities of Masked Intruder, so who is in this band?
They’re probably just trying to sell extra tickets. Those bands are full of 40 year old punk DiLFs! We’ve got Matt Simumwaves on guitar and vocals, Shreddin’ Sean on Drums, Pat L. Board on Bass, and Big Wave Dave on Chimes. Shred it brah!
Dave Hause already has The Loved Ones and his latest solo album debuted on The Wall Street Journal so clearly dude is loaded and Good Riddance were on the Tony Hawk soundtrack so same deal. So I’m curious, how did they get roped into this project?
You mean Big Wave Dave? He’s pretty cool, but he’s no David Lee Roth. BWD moved out to California recently from some foreign country on the East Coast. He instantly started vibing with the all the bros and things just fell into place. We spend a lot of time writing fun jams on the beach, usually about partying in the sun or getting wild on State Street. That’s awesome news about Good Riddance. Our drummer is a huge fan of theirs.
Your Facebook page simply describes your sound as “punk rock.” Good Charlotte’s Myspace page said the same thing and I don’t want to get fooled again. So what bands influenced The All Brights?
Our biggest influence is probably Van Halen. Other major influences include babes, sun, surf, sand and Pennywise.
Why’d you guys choose Punk Rock Bowling as the place to debut the band? What do you guys like about PRB and how does it compare to other festivals?
We tried to get on Lollapalooza or some kinda cool jam thing like Bonnaroo but they weren’t feeling the vibe, so Punk Rock Bingo sounded like it might be a cool way to meet older chicks.
When can we expect some recorded output? I need to know if I should bring money for a limited edition vinyl at PRB to later flip for millions. Will your PRB set feature entirely new material or can we expect material from the band members’ other projects sneaking in? You are opening for two cover bands, so…
We’re currently working on writing some songs for the PRB set. As for recordings, we have a cell phone video of Sean playing bongo drums on the beach. It’s epic. We’re thinking about uploading it to YouTube.
Thanks, guys! If you want to know more about Al Bright, you can find him on facebook. And if you were lucky enough to get tickets you can see them at PRB, or check them out with Alkaline Trio at the Observatory in Santa Ana in June.
Update! You can now hear some All Brights tunes on Soundcloud.
