Fancy an awesome Saturday matinee? Frank Portman – a.k.a. Dr. Frank of the Mr. T Experience – will be appearing at the Windmill Library (7060 West Windmill Lane) for a combination solo guitar concert/author visit, on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 1 p.m.
If you’ve never listened to Frank’s work in The Mr. T Experience before because you’ve been trapped in an underground bunker for the last 30 years (we understand), it’s playful pop punk recommended for lovers of The Ramones, The Queers, Screeching Weasel, and The Groovie Ghoulies.
Also, “More Than Toast” might just be one of the greatest pop punk love songs ever written, so if you haven’t heard it…take a sec.
And the books? Portman has kept busy pursuing a writing career in young adult literature, authoring the novels King Dork (2006), Andromeda Klein (2009) and King Dork Approximately (2014), the latter of which comes out in paperback this October and includes a digital download of King Dork Approximately: The Album, this first album by The Mr. T Experience in 12 years. Speaking of, Dr. Frank just released a song from that upcoming album the other day – “Cinthya (with a Y).”
We’re big fans of The Mr. T Experience, and PIV head honcho Emily Matview works at a library that carries herbooks. So basically, we begged him to come play some songs and hang out for a few hours. You should join us so it isn’t weird!
This event is free and open to all-ages. Dr. Frank will have books and other merchandise for sale.
