Hey, you got some Aggrolites in my Hepcat! No, you got your Hepcat in my Aggrolites! Whichever way you look at it, The Bunkhouse Saloon wasn’t the only venue playing host to a supergroup on Friday night.
Members of Aggrolites and Hepcat fused to create Aggrocats, and fans of ska, reggae and punk were all having a blast dancing to the tunes. With members of each band represented, Aggrocats was able to draw from twice the back catalog of jams, kicking things off with a Hepcat song, then straight into an Aggrolites jam and back again.
But the combined force of the two bands couldn’t be contained to just their own bands. Aggrocats played tribute to those that influenced them by playing a few ska standards, including a cover of “Too Hot” by The Specials.
Of course, it didn’t hurt the vibe to have up-and-comers The Interrupters, who you might know from their Verizon commercial or their gig last year in Vegas with the Bosstones, and LA’s The Bohunks, veterans of the PRB club show scene, to warm up the audience of rudies and get them dancing early.
