A great show was put on last weekend at Henderson’s Eagle Aerie Hall as Stockton, CA, pop-punk band Final Last Words headlined with 6 local bands as support.

Newcomers A Burden on Society opened with enough energy to result in a huge circle pit during their final song. Due to some member changes and the drummer not being able to make the show, Intense Like Camping played a laid back acoustic set, followed by Pahrump’s Acoma Chyne. Despite a few technical difficulties, the 5-piece had the room rocking with songs from their latest EP Stuck in the Dark and even managed to sneak in brand new track, “The Raven.”

This was the first time Vegas metal band Arietta had played an all-ages show and they definitely fed off the enthusiasm a younger crowd brings. Tonight We Fight brought their usual high energy performance, playing All Time Low’s “Dear Maria” early in their set with guest vocals by Macario Gutierrez (InReflect, Twin Cities). Air Drifter played all their hits from the Breaking Point EP and the crowd sang along loudly as the synth/pop-punk/easycore band played some of my personal favorites “Ignorance,” “Lyricless” and “Make It Mine.”

It had been a while since Final Last Words last played Vegas, and the floor erupted right from the opening note of “Take A Look At Me Now,” with the crowd grouping around lead singer Johnny Kosich’s mic to sing along with “Safe to Say,” “That’s What She Said” and “Hypothetical Hot Tub Party.” After playing a new currently untitled song, the FLW guys played the laid back “Cheesylovesong” with drummer Derek Blythe taking over guitar duties from Marion Orino. The band finished off the original tunes portion of their set with their hometown titled song, “Stockton” and jumped into a cover of Taking Back Sunday’s “Cute without the E (Cut from the Team)” that led the entire building to sing at the top of their lungs, jump around, and get as close as possible to Kosich and once-again-guest-vocalist Macario Gutierrez. It was quite the high note to go out on and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for Final Last Words.
