If you missed Forever Came Calling earlier this year at The Knight Hall, then last Wednesday was your chance to redeem yourself, as the California pop punks returned to our city for a fun-filled early show at Yayo Taco. Songs from the band’s HopE.P.assion EP and the recently released split with Handguns filled the set, with Last Call’s Austin Jeffers joining the band on vocals for “Front Porch Sunrise.”
FCC brought along friend and merch-man extraordinaire Malcolm Williams, aka Family Thief, to fill the non-local opening slot with his catchy brand of acoustic folk reminiscent of Baywood and Cassino. The show was bookended by two local acts, the always fun Wear Your Heart and show closers At Sixes and Sevens, a band I’ve always enjoyed but whose new, harder edged material really blew me away.
