Images: Such Gold, The Greenery, Maker, Last Call July 21, 2011 at the Knight Hall

Last week, The Knight Hall was home to one of the most energetic and entertaining all-ages shows I’ve been to in a long time. Local upstarts Last Call got things off to a lively start, the lack of a stage allowing vocalist Austin Jeffers to come right into the crowd, sharing the mic for sing-alongs like “Slow Motion” and new track Long “Distance.” The hardcore stylings of Maker and The Greenery opened up the floor in a sea of flailed limbs and pumped fists. Such Gold had the biggest reaction, with the crowd engulfing vocalist Ben Kottin, screaming along to such songs as “Gut Rot,” “Four Superbowls,” “No Rings,” and “Cut Rides.” They ended their set with covers of Saves the Day and Snapcase, two bands who have obviously had an influence on the young melodic hardcore band’s sound.
