Pop punk godfathers out of Coral Springs, Florida, New Found Glory made their way to Las Vegas for the Sick Tour in support of their latest record Makes Me Sick. They brought along supporting acts Bayside, The Movielife and William Ryan Key of Yellowcard (who also filled in as second guitarist and keyboardist for NFG).

Key opened the show with an acoustic set of songs from his solo debut Thirteen. He ended his set with a Yellowcard song; none other than “Ocean Avenue.” The excited crowd sang every word as loud as they could.

New York natives The Movielife hit the stage next and fans became ecstatic. Understandably so, since the 5 piece haven’t preformed here since 2003 during the Honda Civic Tour. They began their set with “Walking On Glass”, the first track off of their 2001 EP The Movielife Has A Gambling Problem. Their setlist was pretty much a greatest hits compilation, from “Hand Grenade” to “Hey” and of course their classic “Jamestown” to end their set.

Another fun set to watch was Bayside. The quartet are no strangers to the Vegas stage and they Immediately got the crowd back into a frenzy, opening their set with “Already Gone.” Their set seemed to go by so quick. Too quick for that matter. Bayside always tries to make their shows enjoyable. Playing fan favorites like “Masterpiece” and “Blame It On Bad Luck.”

Every band on this tour has been around for at least 15 years. Bayside did their 10 year tour for their hit record The Walking Wounded last year. That being said, they only played “Duality” from that album on this tour.

Onto the main event, New Found Glory. Their set starts off with the venue PA playing “Baby One More Time” by Britney Spears. The band came running on stage getting the crowd crazy as they started their set with “All Downhill From Here,” filling the entire room with energy, happiness and excitement.

On top of playing all the fan favorites, they threw their b-side track “Situations” and their cover of “Kiss Me” into the set, as well as a few tracks off of the new album like “Happy Being Miserable” and “Party On Apocalypse.” About halfway through the set they the band had a fan come and stage and spin the “Wheel Of Songs,” which was a selection of fast songs. “Something I Call Personality” was chosen but by audience request they played “Sonny” instead.

Once they got to their encore, they played a cover of “Eye Of The Tiger” and announced that it will be on From The Screen To Your Stereo Part 3 to finish the trilogy. That will be coming out sometime next year. Then finally closed the show with their classic “My Friends Over You,” while shooting a canon of confetti into the crowd.

New Found Glory have become modern icons and a staple in the punk rock scene and highly influential by many bands throughout the years. For the last 21 years they’ve shown where the belong: on stage, and making music. Let’s hope they go for another 21 years (or more).
