Strung Out and Pulley must have had a blast at previous PRB club shows, because this year they were back to provide a double dose of skatepunk goodness.
And sandwiched between – the return of 88 Fingers Louie! The band spent way too much away from Vegas and this weekend, we were treated to two gigs.
Strung Out put a lot of the focus on the new, with a set highly favoring 2015’s Transmission, Alpha, Delta. And you know what? I was stoked, because the new album is just too good.
But it wasn’t all new, as they managed to work in three full songs from 2004’s highly underrated Exile in Oblivion and Twisted by Design jam “Ultimate Devotion.” Through it all, the band never stopped moving, making them hard to shoot but fun to watch.
88 Fingers Louie were much more stoic on stage, especially compared to Strung Out. I was surprised by how little they moved considering how fast their tunes are. But it was still great hearing those classic songs live.
Pulley has basically made Vegas their second home this past year and a half, and it’s still fun watching bassist Tyler Rebbe thrash around on stage.
Avenues were a new band to me, and gave off a strong old school Social D vibe.
