The night began with Lucid Dreamer, aka Dustin Elias-Odgers. Armed with six strings and artful lyrics, he was a warmup act worth watching.

Next up was Genesis Company, and this band is pretty rad. Their vocalist was close to the audience, really bringing in those crazy vibes while the drummer pummeled skins, the guitarist shredded licks, and the bassist assisted on backup vocals, which made for a great set.

I saw Turn it Around back in January, and I wasn’t familiar with their music at the time, but boy, my mind was blown. I was immediately hooked on their song “Dead Roses,” and when they finally came back this time around, it was better than the last time! If I could have, I would have been screaming the lyrics with him, but alas, the job of a photographer doesn’t always allow for that. They are definitely a band worth memorizing the lyrics to, before you come to their next show!

Dalton, the singer, has some raw punk vocals that instill feelings of revolution, and Tanner lays down the beat on drums while screaming along which is the coolest thing. Joey, who had a notably amazing mustache, was on bass, jumping to the beat. Luke was on guitar, with the best pineapple hair ever, and little James on the guitar, as well, doing his warmups. Before he sang, “Nothing Graceful,” Dalton shared a very personal thing to the crowd that will stay with me forever. He wrote the song for his mother, who had become a victim of suicide. This is a beautiful band that’s worth checking out!

I had heard a lot of good things about Twin Cities and I first saw them at that aforementioned Turn it Around/Guts show back in January. I have to say, seeing them play this show was just unreal. I’ve never really heard a band like this before, but they’re great to just sit and relax to. The singer puts so much heart and soul into it and the rest of the band brings so much energy, it’s like audible coffee. If you haven’t listened to them yet, you are truly missing out. I would highly recommend coming to a show of theirs!
