Rock/punk band Lydia Vance is no more. And in their place? Deadhand!
It was announced yesterday that 3/4ths of Lydia Vance, Brendan Scholz (Guitar/Vocals), Jarred Cooper (Bass), and Aaron Weislogel (drums) have reconvened under a new name: Deadhand.
The band had the following to say about the name change:
Lydia Vance had always been a four piece band. We recorded 4 different times with the original Lydia Vance lineup, we even had a full length album that was never released. We now have a new album that was written and recorded entirely as a three piece and feel the different lineup and new songs warranted a change, hence the new name – Deadhand. The name comes from a song title we have and it has different meanings, one is a Soviet Nuclear Response System called Deadhand and there are some other meanings to us as well.
Curious to hear what the band sounds like? You can hear the track Prehistoric on their Facebook, Myspace, Reverbnation, and Purevolume profiles, and check back with Punks in Vegas shortly for an exclusive track.
Meanwhile, the band will be playing a free show June 11 at the Divebar with I Am The Thief, Pigasus, and more (tba). They will have copies of their self-titled debut on hand for purchase.
