Hot on the heels of Mercy Music’s announcement that they will be working with Hardline Entertainment, a company that boasts Death by Stereo, Pennywise and Yotam among their roster, frontman Brendan Scholz has unveiled details on a rather exciting sponsorship deal.
“I’m beyond thrilled to announce that I’ve been sponsored by Graymalkin Capos,” exclaimed Scholz in an exclusive interview with Punks in Vegas, a twinkle of pride beaming from both eyes as he tore open the package. “A lot of people are under the impression that I’m not a fan of capos” the tattooed frontman continued as he affixed the capo to the 4th fret “but that’s simply not the case, and I hope that working with this upstart company finally squashes those ugly rumors.”
Fans looking to see the new capos in action, which include a steam punk model complete with valves, gears and screws, a spiked and studded “punx” model, and one made entirely from old Tech Deck parts, won’t have to wait long. Mercy Music will be in Santa Anita on April 9, playing KROQ’s Beerfest. Vegas fans will get to see the band April 14 with Black Camaro, and May 12 with Bee Master, both shows at the Bunkhouse.
While the band initially denied rumors that the sponsorship would affect their setlist in any way, Scholz did eventually admit somewhat sheepishly that “well, you can’t have a capo and not play ‘Wonderwall,’ you know?”
Update: We’ve managed to obtain an exclusive preview of Graymalkin’s new ad campaign featuring Scholz, designed by fellow Las Vegan Brock Frabbiele with photography by Ashley Horton:
