Today we’re bringing you a stream of “Jaundice,” a brand new song from Vegas grunge band Wax Pig Melting. The track, which was recorded and produced by Cody Leavitt at Camel Hump Studios, and mastered by Mike “Lazer” Lavin, is available on the group’s bandcamp.
“Jaundice is basically a song about that little ‘gawd’ in all of us” explains WPM frontman Brian Gibson. “It was also a kind of writing exercise in terms of lyrics for me. I feel like in a strange way when we all connect with that “higher part” in ourselves, is sadly only when we *really* need help. So many things happen when you kind of let things do their things. ‘Jaundice’ is about the never ending struggle and inevitable somewhat spiritual profit we all gain with being in touch with what we believe animates us.”
In terms of the feel of the song, Gibson is grateful for the lineup he had on the recording, saying “it’s really added some needed aggression to the songs I write, and I look forward to anything that Cody and I do musically in the future.”
Fans of the band can check them out Aug. 10 at 11th Street Records, where they’ll be supporting Chain of Flowers from the UK. The show will feature a slightly different lineup than recent WPM shows, as Gibson explains: “[The] lineup will be old drummer, Daniel Williams, and ex guitarist, Aaron Vilhauer on guitar and vocals. Should be interesting, as all our experiences always are.”
Gibson will also have copies of his new book, “Ruined By The Thought Of It,” on sale at the show.
