Pioneering punk rock band X has announced a free show in Las Vegas. The Los Angeles-based band will be appearing at the Foundry at SLS on Nov. 2 as part of the Optima Ultimate Film Festival, an event that brings car lovers and filmmakers together in search for “killer short-form automotive content.”
(We’re guessing longform is excluded because the winner would be too obvious: Herbie Fully Loaded. Errr, I mean Death Proof. Yeah, definitely Death Proof!)
The event, which includes the free X performance, will take place from 7-11 p.m., and promises free beer and wine, appearances from industry celebrities and influencers, free beer and wine, plus “the unique opportunity to vote in real-time for the winning films.” Did we mention “free beer and wine?”
Tickets for the event are free but quantities are limited, so we recommend registering ASAP via EventBrite.
In other X news, bassist and band co-founder John Doe has recently added “author” to his resume (which also includes singer, songwriter, actor and poet). Doe’s book Under the Big Black Sun: A Personal History of L.A. Punk is out now, and keeping in the spirit of “X” and “free,” it’s available at your local library.
